Shooting - European Championships 2011: Frans Pace Best Maltese shooter in qualifiers

The MSSF Trap shooters yesterday took part in the first qualifing day at The European Championships 2011, being held at Belgrade.

Frans Pace started with 21/25, followed by 24/25 and a perfect straight of 25/25 for a total of 70/75, obtaining the best score among the Maltese shooters in action yesterday.

Jason J. Aquilina managed a total of 69 clays

George Cassar hit 65 clays while Nicky Carabott and Matthew Busuttil managed 62 and 60 clays respectively.

In yesterday’s qualifiers, where 92 shooters are taking part, four shooters already managed 75/75.

The Trap event continues thid morning when each shooter will shoot for another two rounds of 25 clays each.

The top six will go for a barrage final of another 25 single barrel clays that will decide the medal placings and Olympic quota places.

The trap shooters are being assisted by MSSF president Savior Portelli and MSSF Seg. Dr. carmel Cascun.

William Chetcuti and Nathan Lee Xuereb will be in action on Sunday, in The Double Trap Event while Clive Farrugia will compete in the Skeet event next Thursday and Friday.
